Welcome to the home page of Trackside Publications, the only book publisher to specialise in the railways of the Americas south of the USA, covering all of Latin America including former European colonies in Central America, the Caribbean, and South America.
In 40 years of publishing our books have recorded the exploits of railways that faced some of the most challenging geography in the world and operated a diverse range of equipment with much from Europe and North America, on every imaginable rail gauge. Our readers live all over the world and find that the railways we feature have aspects that are familiar to them from their own country.
Our titles record the history of railways from their planning and construction up to the present day, and are heavily illustrated with photographs aided by informative captions, diagrams, maps and rosters. Much research is undertaken and our authors are specialists in their field. Most images in our books are previously unpublished with some dating from the nineteenth century ranging up to the present day, not forgetting archive colour slides more than fifty years old. All are reproduced on glossy art paper and books are bound in limpback and hardback editions.
They celebrate an age of enterprise when the railway was the prime form of land transport, the era of the steam engine, and the diesels that followed. It seemed no geographic challenge was beyond these lines, and many operated in the most spectacular scenery.
We hope you will enjoy our books.
